NEW YORK

Dream comes true! 5 days and 4 night with Belo USA in New York City. There were 56 of us! 52 exchange students from 20 different countries and 4 staff people. We got to see a lot of things and we were having so much fun. The best 5 days I have ever had, or at least one of the bests! Lifetime memories, and new friends all around the world! I want to say thank you for those who shared this experience with me. Y'all made it special! Staff, y'all organized everything perfectly! Thank you also for those who supprted me with my trip. Mom and dad back in Finland, this was the best Christmas present I have ever reserved! Thank y'all! <3

Unelmista totta! 5 yötä ja 4 päivää New Yorkissa Belo USA organisaation matkalla. Meitä oli siellä 56! 52 vaihto-oppilasta 20 eri maasta ja 4 ohjaajaa. Me nähtiin paljon kuuluisia paikkoja ja muistettiin pitää hauskuus matkassa mukana. Voisin sanoa että nuo olivat elämäni 5 parasta päivää, tai ainakin yksiä parhaimmista. Muistoja ja uusia ystäviä ympäri maailman! Haluan kiittää kaikkia ketkä olivat matkassa mukana ja tekivät tästä matkasta ikimuistoisen sekä niitä ketkä tukivat mua tässä matkassa. Seuraava on äidille ja iskälle siellä Suomen päässä: Paras joululahja ikinä! Kiitos! <3

DAY 1 / PÄIVÄ 1

All 52 of us arrived to NY in different times during the day. We had our first group dinner and we got to know each other.
Kaikki saapuivat eri aikoihin päivän mittaan. Illalla meillä oli meidän ensimmäinen ryhmä päivällinen ja tutustuttiin toisiimme. 

DAY 2 / PÄIVÄ 2

Temperature was below freezing. After living 7 months is Texas it was little chilly even for a girl from Finland. Warm clothes on on and let's go! We had a full schedule for the day. Our bus left the hotel at 8.30am and next time saw the hotel around 10pm. The busy schedule was completely fine for all of us, since we didn't come all the way to New York to rest! Our morning included National Library, Rockefeller center, Central Park, Harlem, Columbia University and 5th Avenue. After lunch in West Village we explored the Metropolitan Museom of Art and learned some cool new moves in a hip-hop class at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. After the class a full bus of sweaty exchange students headed to dinner in Hard Rock Cafe. As the last thing of the day, we got to experience the Times Square in night. Gorgeous! Amazing!! <3

Suomen ilmastohan siellä oli meitä vastassa... Pakkasen puolella lämpötila. Kyllä suomityttöäkin meinas paleltaa 7 kk Teksasissa oleskelun jälkeen. Kyllä se siitä kun oikeanlaiset vaatteet päälle ja menoksi! Meillä oli tiukka aikataulu päivälle. Bussi starttasi hotellilta 8.30 aamulla ja seuraavan kerran nähtiin hotelli 10 aikaan illalla. Tiukka aikataulu oli kuitenkin kaikkien mieleen, koska eihän me New Yorkiin asti tultu lepäämään! Ammupäivään kuului (yritän parhaani mukaan suomennella paikkojen nimiä, mutta kaikkille ei taida järkevää suomennosta löytyä. Antakaa virheet anteeksi!) Kansallis kirjasto, Rockefeller center, Keskuspuisto, Harlem, Columbia yliopisto ja 5th Avenue. Syötiin  lounas Länsi kylässä, minkä jälkeen suuntasimme kuuluisaan Taidemuseoon ja opittiin uusia liikkeitä hip-hop tunnilla Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater:issa. Tanssitunnin jälkeen bussillinen hikisiä vaihtareita suuntasi Hard Rock Cafeen päivälliselle. Illan kruunasi näkymät Times Square:lla pimeällä. Upeaa! Mahtavaa!! <3

When you tried to take a personal picture somewhere, you heard somebody yelling "group pic"! So almost every single personal picture turned out being a group picture... :D

DAY 3 / PÄIVÄ 3

First thing in the morning was visit to the Empire State Building! 102nd (or 86th, if you didn't decide to go all the way up) floor provided unforgettable views for NYC! ! Next stop Grand Central Station for lunch. Since it was St. Patricks' Day and a big St.Patrick's Day's parade was in New York, the Grand Central Sation was full of partying people dressed in green. After lunch we had a walking tour in Wall street and Financial District. It also included a visit in a small 9/11 museom, in a huge church and view of the site of World Trade Center.
We crossed the famous Brooklyn Bridge. After all those wonderful views we headed to SoHo for shopping. In the night we had dinner in Chinatown. While having dinner we got to experience something very unic. We're part of two Chinese wedding at the same place, and each of the weddings had their own DJ... lol. We're back to hotel already around 9pm so we had time for pool party! FunFunFun!!

Ensimmäinen pysäkki aamulle, Empire State Building! 102. kerros tarjosi unohttumattomat näkymät New Yorkiin! Seuraavaksi Grand Central Station:ille lounastaan. Koska oli St. Patrickin päivä (Irlantilaisen kultuurin juhlistamispäivä) ja sen paraati järjestettiin New Yorkissa, juna-asema oli täynnä vihreeseen pukeutuneita, juhlivia ihmisiä. Lounaan jälkeen kävelykierros Wall Street:illa ja Financial District:illä. Vierailtiin myös pienessä 9/11 museossa, isossa kirkossa ja nähtiin World Trade Center. 
Sitten ylitettiin kuuluisa Brooklyn silta. Mahtavien näköalojen jälkeen suuntana SoHo ja shoppailua. Illalla päivälliselle Chinatown:iin. Saatiin kokea jotain ainutlaatuista, nimittäin oltiin osa kahtia kiinalaisia häitä samassa paikassa! Mielenkiintoiseksihan se meni siinä vaiheessa kun kummallakin häillä oli omat DJ.... xD Takaisin hotellilla oltiin jo 9 aikaan, joten meillä oli aikaa mennä pitään hauskaa altaalle!!

 DAY 4 / PÄIVÄ 4 

The fisrt stop today: Statue of Liberty! On our boat trip there, we also got to see Ellis Island. Next quick stop for luck and shopping in Times Square. After that we headed to United Nations. The visit caused that I actually visited Finland during my exchange year, because all of the countries owns the area of UN! Pretty cool, isn't it!
Earlier we had so little time for shopping in Times Square that we needed more! So back to Times Square. Two of my awesome new friends and I got the put on the big screen in Times Square!! Dinner we had in Italian restaurant and one of us got to experience birthday in NYC! Then followed the last thing of the trip: Broadway show: Cindarella! Absolutely one of my favorite visits in the trip! Last night means also saying goodbyes and signing flags or Belo shirts with lifelong memories! <3

Ensimmäinen stoppi: Vapaudenpatsas! Venematkalla vapaudenpatsaan saarelle nähtiin myös Ellis saari. Seuraavaksi nopea pysähdys Times Squarella shoppailuun ja lounaaseen. Tämän jälkeen vierailtiin Yhdistyneiden Kansakuntien tiloissa. Vierailun takia itse asiassa vierailin Suomessa vaihtarivuoteni aikana, koska kaikki jäsen maat omistaa YK:n tilat! Cool!
Aikasemmin meillä oli niin vähän taimaa shoppailuun Times Squarella että pitihän sinne mennä uudestaan! Pari mun mahtavaa uutta kaveria ja minä päästiin myös isolla näytölle Times Squarella!! Päivälliselle mentiin Italialaiseen ravintolaan ja yksi meistä sai kokea synttärit New Yorkissa! Seuraavaksi matkan viimeinen vierailu: Broadway show, Tuhkimo! Ehdottomasti yksi mun suosikkikohteista New Yorkissa! Viimeinen ilta tarkoittaa myös surullisia jäähyväisiä ja Belo-paitojen tai maiden lippujen nimmarointia hyvillä muistolla! <3

I was the only Finnish in our trip. When I was posing in the Times Square with Finland's flag, a boy came to me and spoke me IN FINNISH! He was half Finnish by his mother, but still so cool! / Olin ainut suomalainen meidän porukassa. Kun poseerasin Times Squarella Suomen lipun kans niin poika tuli puhumaan mulle SUOMEKSI! Se oli puoleksi suomalainen äitinsä kautta, mutta silti siistiä!

DAY 5 / PÄIVÄ 5

For 18 of us, icluding me, this was a travelling day back to our host states and families. Rest of them continued to Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
18. meistä tämä päivä oli matkustupäivä takaisin meidän host osavaltioihin ja perheisiin. Loput 52., jatkoivat Philadelphiaan ja Amerikan pääkaupunkiin Washginton D.C:een.
